| Working Together
Whether it's the first draft or the final draft, DG Writing & Editing will work with you to produce the best manuscript possible. Publishing isn't what it used to be. It's tough to get an agent and tougher to get a publisher. There are no head to head editing sessions in smoky bars. In fact, most writers never see their agents or editors face to face. Now, more than ever, publishing is big business. To compete, writers must have products that can hold their own in the marketplace. I'm Dianne Gallagher and I've been a freelance editor and ghostwriter for ten years. I've worked on screenplays, biographies, novels and non-fiction. To be very honest, I can't offer agent or editor contacts. That's not my job. What I do offer is honest, affordable, quality writing and editorial services. Here's your first piece of honest information. Don't pay someone for what you can do yourself. If you have the time and inclination, write the project yourself. If that's truly impossible, seek out a ghostwriting service. The same goes for editing. Next, the most inexpensive service could be the one that truly meets, not exceeds, your needs. I always recommend a critique to writers who are able and willing to do the work. Heck, you wrote a book, you can certainly do a rewrite. The problem usually is not time or ability, it's simply ideas. You get stuck. You get tunnel vision. You need a second set of eyes. That's what a good critique provides. A fresh look. Finally, don't be afraid to pay for services that will get your foot in the door. A good query letter is invaluable... and often elusive. The same goes for a non-fiction proposal package. Unfortunately, the writing skills you used to produce your work are not the same ones you need to sell your work. Of course, before you pay someone, do your own research. There are lots of articles and books devoted to these marketing tools. This applies to screenwriters as well. Improper screenplay format is your first litmus test. Poor formatting means your script won't get read. Period. There are companies out there that offer big promises at big prices. DG Writing & Editing is not one of them. I'm here to help you become a better writer. That is what I do. Please remember no one can promise that your work will sell... unless, of course, they're sitting behind the desk and writing the checks. But you can get input, options and suggestions which will bring your writing to a new level or help resolve what seems to be insurmountable problems. So if you're a writer who needs to take the next step, let me help. DG Writing & Editing is affordable, accessible and honest. And remember... Writers write. They don't talk about writing. They don't think about writing. They don't find anything else to do but write. They sit down, open their brains and write. If they don't, they can't call themselves writers. Period.
